C-section scar massage

Hamilton Pelvic Physio for Cesarean section scar

A Cesarean section is a major abdominal surgery that interrupts multiple layers of tissue that are normally there to give you core support and stability.

These tissues are essential for tasks such as lifting, carrying, and bending. When this system is compromised by a large incision and then scar tissue development, it's super important you give it the love and care it needs to heal well, so you can start to return to more normal activity.

C-section scars (as well as any other type of scar) can create internal adhesions inside the body, which can cause tissue restriction, structural imbalances, and poor blood circulation. C-section scar adhesion, if not treated, can potentially cause issues such as low back pain, pain with penetrative sex, and bladder issues.

C-section scar massage is a gentle scar mobilization technique that helps to relieve the scar’s discomfort and adhesion. In addition to the manual mobilization technique, I also use a scar release device called the MPS Dolphin Neurostim. The Dolphin Neurostim™ transfers gentle microcurrent deep into the tissue of the skin and helps return mobility, improve appearance, and decrease pain both at the site of the scar and anywhere else in the body that scar may be affecting. In many cases, relief can be felt with one application!
