Help with urge and leaking issues

Hamilton pelvic physio for leaking (incontinence)

Do you leak when you sneeze, cough, laugh, jump?

Have you ever leaked on the way to the washroom? Do you stain your underwear? You just went to the washroom yet you need to go again? Do you dribble when you stand up? These might be signs that you have pelvic floor dysfunction.

Your pelvic floor muscles are responsible for supporting your bowels and bladder and controlling the sphincters that hold in poop and pee. Incontinence or leaking may be a sign that these muscles could be too tense, weak, overused, and lack coordination.

Furthermore, leakage and urges are not only due to pelvic floor issues. Some other causes may be excessive downward pressure/weight in your pelvis, pelvic asymmetry, connective tissue tightness between organs, repetitive infections, nerve inflammation, anxiety, and gastrointestinal issues. Thus, treating leakage and urge incontinence require a thorough and holistic physiotherapy approach. It is so much more than just doing Kegels.
